How To

Your subscription is managed through Stripe’s customer portal. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time without contacting support.

Prerequisites

You need a Messijo account with an active subscription.

Opening the billing portal

  1. Log in to your Messijo dashboard
  2. Go to Team SettingsBilling
  3. Click Manage Subscription
  4. You’ll be redirected to Stripe’s customer portal

From the Stripe portal you can:

  • View your current plan and billing cycle
  • Update payment methods
  • View invoice history
  • Change your subscription tier
  • Cancel your subscription

Upgrading your plan

To move to a higher tier:

  1. Open the billing portal
  2. Click Update plan or Change plan
  3. Select the tier you want to upgrade to
  4. Review the price change and proration
  5. Confirm

When you upgrade:

  • The price difference is prorated based on your billing cycle
  • New quotas (events, lens results) take effect immediately
  • Any additional features are available right away
  • Your billing date stays the same

Downgrading your plan

To move to a lower tier:

  1. Open the billing portal
  2. Click Update plan or Change plan
  3. Select the tier you want to downgrade to
  4. Review the price change
  5. Confirm

When you downgrade:

  • The change takes effect at your next billing date, not immediately
  • You keep access to your current tier’s features until then
  • If you’re over the new tier’s quota limits, some features may be restricted after the downgrade takes effect
  • Consider reducing your keyword count or Lens usage before the downgrade kicks in

Canceling your subscription

To cancel entirely:

  1. Open the billing portal
  2. Click Cancel subscription
  3. Confirm

When you cancel:

  • Your subscription remains active until your next billing date
  • After that date, your account reverts to the free tier (if available) or is deactivated
  • Your data (events, keywords, Lenses) is retained for 30 days in case you reactivate
  • After 30 days, your data is permanently deleted

Updating payment methods

  1. Open the billing portal
  2. Go to Payment methods
  3. Add a new card or update your existing card
  4. Set the default payment method
  5. Save

Failed payments will attempt to charge your default payment method. Make sure your payment method is current to avoid service interruption.

Viewing invoice history

  1. Open the billing portal
  2. Go to Invoices or Billing history
  3. View past invoices and download PDFs
  4. Check payment status for each invoice

Common issues

Payment failed

  • Update your payment method in the billing portal
  • Stripe will automatically retry failed payments
  • If payment fails multiple times, your subscription may be paused

Plan change didn’t take effect

  • Upgrades take effect immediately. Check if you received a confirmation email.
  • Downgrades take effect at your next billing date, not immediately.

Can’t access the portal

  • Make sure you’re logged in to Messijo
  • Try refreshing the page and clicking the billing link again
